In Manitoba, most grades in schools are shown as a percentage. Some High Schools and Colleges use a grade-point system, which is based on 4.0 points.
CONVERTING LETTER GRADES TO A PERCENTAGE SYSTEM
The converstions are done using a 100 point system. Here is a convenient chart.
A++ = 100
A+ = 98
A = 95
A- = 92
B+ = 88
B = 85
B- = 82
C+ = 78
C = 75
C- = 72
D+ = 68
D = 65
D- = 62
F = 55 (May vary from 50 - 60)
GRADE POINT SYSTEM
All letter grades are converted to a grade equivalent, based on the 4.0 system. Here is a chart you can use:
A+ = 4.3
A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7
C+ = 2.3
C = 2.0
C- = 1.7
D+ = 1.3
D = 1.0
D- = 0.7
F = 0.0
The point values are averaged, and then are converted back into a letter grade. Here is a chart you can use :
4.0-4.3 = A+
3.7-4.0 = A
3.5-3.7 = A-
3.3-3.5 = B+
2.7-3.3 = B
2.5-2.7 = B-
2.3-2.5 = C+
1.7-2.3 = C
1.5-1.7 = C-
1.3-1.5 = D+
0.7-1.3 = D
0.5-0.7 = D-
0.0-0.5 = F
These charts are shown as examples. It is always wise to check which systems are used by each school.
